Generate Repeat Traffic to Your Website
Success of an online business depends
much on the number of returning visitors
the site has got at a given point in
time. Returning visitors are important
because, unlike first time visitors, it
is easier to convert them into paying
customers since one of the reasons they
come back to your site is the
trustworthiness they have towards your
product/service. Here are five ways to
make your customers keep coming back to
your website.
1. Start a Web Log or Blog
As we all know, blog encourages
interaction manifold. Post few casual
but relevant and current topics in the
blog and encourage netizens to share
their views on the same. People always
are curious for new information, and if
you have something new often, naturally,
netizens will also respond positively to
the blog. A blog also builds up the
creditability of your site for it proves
that there is at least one real life
person behind the website.
2. Create a Forum
Forum is an excellent discussion board
for the visitors of the website to
discuss ideas, thrown in suggestions, or
simply post their complaints regarding
the website. From the website owner’s
perspective, it gives a rare insight
into the minds of the visitors, their
expectations about the website, and what
may be lacking in the site at a given
time. Listening to customer feedback one
of the effective ways to enhance a
website, to make it more customer
friendly, and a full fledged discussion
forum provides just that.
3. Carry Out Polls and Surveys
Polls or surveys provide a quick
platform for visitors to express their
views, how narrow its scope may be.
Publish polls and surveys quite
frequently, pertaining to the target
market intended by the website, and keep
them interested to find out the results.
From the webmaster’s perspective, such
polls and surveys will also give
valuable inputs regarding customer
perception about the website and their
expectations on the same.
4. Hold Quizzes, Puzzles, and Games
Visitors need to be entertained as well.
This does not mean that you need to
convert yours into a gaming site. But,
providing a dynamic trivia quiz on the
left menu, or a puzzle that changes
every day, will give the visitors some
fun while browsing through the website
contents. A link to a different page,
for a quick game, is also a good option.
5. Update the Site Contents
Frequently
The last thing netizens expect from a
website is its boring unchanging
contents. No one will want to browse a
website that looks the same over ten
years. It is like reading the same
magazine again and again. Also, search
engines like Google considers unchanging
website content over a long period of
time as a negative, as a sign of non
activity, and demotes it in page
rankings. If that happens, all the good
work done till date will go down the
drain. Hence it is important that
website contents be updated
periodically, preferably in every two to
three weeks or at least in a month.
